MY APPROACH TO SCIENCE IS all about FuelING the passion for discovery

Academic science comes with a lot of rewards, and one I value most is the reward of mentorship. I am thrilled when my lab members level-up and engage science in new ways. This reward is only possible when people have a passion for discovery. I try to fuel this passion by being attuned to both the science and the individual.

I personally think the gut holds the deepest mysteries about the immune system and the body, altogether. Understanding these mysteries, and how they keep the peace with the microbiome, or battle against pathogens and colorectal cancer, can unlock new strategies to benefit human health. That’s why most of our research questions start by “going with our guts”.
